#Bridal Exhibit Marjorie Post - Hillwood #Museum, Washington, D.C.

Hillwood Museum Plans Society Bridal Exhibit - NYTimes.com:
Marjorie Merriweather Post at her daughter Dina Merrill's wedding in 1946.
"In June, the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens, Mrs. Post’s Georgian-style estate, in Washington, is mounting “Wedding Belles: Bridal Fashions From the Marjorie Merriweather Post Family: 1874-1958,” an exhibit of wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses worn by family members, including all four of Mrs. Post’s wedding gowns and one gown from each of her three daughters’ weddings. Among the wedding paraphernalia is the “Hapsburg veil” worn by Adelaide at one of her marriages but made for Princess Stéphanie of Belgium when she married Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria in 1881.

The exhibit is a bid by the museum’s new director, Kate Markert, who took over in August, to introduce Hillwood, five miles from the tourist center of Washington, to a broader audience."
