This show is a delight and a surprise, suggesting that Malevich's Suprematist paintings from the early 20th century exploded out into a far-reaching web of influence, touching everything from Judd floorbox installations to Dan Flavin's neon, Ed Ruscha's aggro, blotted-out word paintings, and Banks Violette's imposing, Minimalism-meets-death-metal aesthetic. These are all on view, along with a few other names you might have heard of before: Ryman, Serra, Rothko, Twombly, Stella, Calder, et. al. Get yourself uptown immediately.
