A new zazzle store opened this weekend with beautiful full-color prints by French artist Benjamin Rabier (1864–1939), who was the first to create an animal cartoon published in a newspaper. He was the artistic inspiration for Herge to create the Tin Tin series of books. Rabier himself illustrated dozens of children's books with realistic drawings of his animals and characters.

The work of Beatrix Potter (1866 – 1943) is not under copyright this year (in most cases). You can see my (brief) reviews of the best Beatrix Potter titles available on archive.org, all with high-quality graphics. eBooks can be downloaded to your tablet computer to read with the kids at night.

It only took me a while to figure out that "Histoire de Pierre Lapin" was not a book about a historical figure by the author, but Lapin is the French word for Rabbit (doh).
These drawings by French artist Benjamin Rabier are also in the public domain. I fell in love with the images and added alphabet letters to make these items on Zazzle. Rabier released an alphabet book of animals, and several other publications over his lifetime.

The professional upholsterer from Abrams has a wish list of area billboards she'd like to get her hands on once they come down, like the Oneida Casino ones that feature all those colorful betting chips.
"I want those so bad,'' she said. "Can you imagine what those stacks of chips would look like? You'd have these blue and red zigzags going on.''

"Andrea Martin rescues expired vinyl billboards and turns them into Trendi Totes, sturdy bags made to be stuffed with books, fresh produce or just about anything. It's a fun sideline that sprung from the A. Design Studio upholstery and interior design business she started in 2007. She first introduced the totes merely as props for an office chair display at a KI Convention Center trade show."

As part of an advertising campaign for Melissa, a new shoe store in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the shoe brand partnered up with 3M to get 350,000 Post-its to create an animated stop motion video — the largest one to ever use so many sticky notes.
The following is the results of an interactive game on the net where you can upload your own animation frames to this video to create an international video collaboration.
