Pookalam is the name for traditional floral designs created on the largest festival in the Indian state of Kerala.
During this festival period women indulge in cultural activities and make complicatedly designed flower mats called, "Pookalam" in the front entrance of the house to welcome King Mahabali. Various colorful flowers, imagination, commitment, team work and patience are the basic essentials for creating an eye-catching Pookalam.
